February 23 was just like every other Sunday for the Malm family, until a fire started in their garage.

Although the cause of the initial fire is undetermined, there were propane tanks in the garage that caused a massive explosion, and the blaze grew rapidly. Burning wreckage from the explosion caused the fire to quickly move across the entire house, and once the fire department arrived their home was a total loss.

Thankfully, Tori, her husband, her son and daughter, and their pets (4 dogs and 2 cats) are all safe and unharmed.

But they not only lost the house. They also lost everything they owned inside it, Tori’s car, and business property as well.

KW Cares was able to help Tori’s family with an Emergency Grant, so they can replace basic items like clothing and medication. Thankfully they do have home insurance, so though it’s a long road, they’re on their way.
