Vivian and dog

Megan B. has been an agent since May 2024, and she and her husband have two lovely girls, Vivian and Willow.

A Rare Disorder

Vivian has Loeys-Dietz Syndrome, a rare connective tissue disorder that increases the risk of dangerous aneurysms, which can lead to fatal tears. She has been under the care of cardiologists, neurologists, and genetic specialists since she was born. Although they knew she’d need surgery at some point, her doctors had hoped to delay until she was older. However, the rapid enlargement of her aortic root (the section of the aorta that attaches to the left ventricle of the heart) over the past year made surgery unavoidable.

May 29th was the day. All the things that could go wrong… we were just praying for a miracle. Surrounded by our family, we waited.

Surgery and Recovery

Vivian underwent open-heart surgery at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. Surgeons performed an aortic root replacement and repaired both a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) and a mitral valve leak. Thanks to the talented hands of her surgeons, the best-case scenario became reality, and Vivian made it through the surgery with flying colors

But it was still a major surgery, and Megan needed to be in Houston with Vivian for more than a month, resulting in significant travel costs. The combination of medical bills, travel expenses, and Megan’s inability to work during Vivian’s recovery created a serious financial strain.

I am in the beginning stages of my real estate career, and we are barely making it on my husband’s income with all the medical bills that keep piling in on top of our everyday needs. This has caused significant stress on my family as we move through this journey. At this point, we are left with very little to go on…

How You Help through KW Cares

Thanks to your donations, we were able to help Megan’s family with a portion of their expenses so they can have some breathing room while Vivian recovers from surgery. We know there’s nothing harder than seeing your child struggle, and we want to help.

And how is Vivian doing today? Megan sent us this update!

Vivian is now about 9 months post-operation and you would never know what our girl has been through. She is such a brave, beautiful soul! This year has brought so much stress and heartache, all while trying to build a business from the ground up… My KW Family has been so kind and loving through all of this.
